What is Nearshoring?

About Nearshoring

The term “nearshore” has been taken from the fishing industry and became widely used in the world of outsourcing. It refers to a form of outsourcing other than offshoring. The difference between the offshore outsourcing and the nearshore outsourcing is that in the second case, the partner to which an organization outsources its business is located geographically closer that the one in the case of offshoring.

Lately, more and more organizations are referring to nearshore outsourcing rather than offshore outsourcing. Countries such as India, China, the Philippines etc. are known as low cost destinations for outsourcing. But nearshoring is a good alternative to that, because it offers greater security and constancy along with cost-effectiveness. Another reason worth mentioning is a closer cultural and linguistic fit with the organizations. Such advantages are to be taken into consideration when looking to relocate business processes.
